Alec Snyder is a legislative reporter at POLITICO Pro, where, since April 2022, he analyzes bills in Congress, focusing his coverage on the health care, energy, agriculture, sustainability, technology, transportation, cyber, legal affairs and, previously, cannabis, defense, education and financial services sectors and related policy.

 

Alec also contributes to POLITICO Pro's flagship Inside Congress newsletter, which previews the most prominent policy and legislative events of the day on Capitol Hill.

Alec gained his Congress footing at CQ Roll Call, where he covered congressional committees, hearings and markups and profiled members of Congress. Before that, he worked at CNN on its Voting Rights Team and its Newsgathering unit in New York City, where he reported, wrote and aggregated for CNN.com content and and produced news packages, live shots and broadcast scripts.

Originally from the Philadelphia area, Alec attended The George Washington University in Washington, D.C., graduating summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa with a Bachelor of Arts in journalism and mass communication with a minor in theatre.
